Understanding The Differences Between Flatware - 18/10 & 18/0

I'm often asked what the difference is between 18/10 and 18/0 flatware. These numbers refer to the percentage of chromium and nickel present in the stainless steel. The first number is the chromium, the second is the nickel content. So 18/10 has 18% chromium and 10% nickel. Likewise 18/0 stainless steel has zero nickel content. Nickel helps the metal resist corrosion and adds a little more cost. Generally speaking an 18/10 flatware set costs more than an 18/0. You can purchase both types of flatware from our web or eBay stores. Here is an example of each:

Oneida's Michelangelo Bridal Patterns 46 pc set is 18/10 Stainless Steel.

Oneida's Lincoln 45 pc set is 18/0 Stainless Steel.
